A clinical study to assess the requirement of analgesia post usg guided bilateral transversus abdominis plane block with 0.25% bupivacaine AND 0.25% bupivacaine with 50µG fentanyl following total abdominal hysterectomy under general anesthesia

Background: Different adjuvant drugs have been used to improve the quality and increase the duration of local anesthetics during various nerve block techniques. More recently ultrasound-guided TAP block has been described with promises of better localisation and deposition of the local anaesthetic with improved accuracy. The transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block is a novel approach for blocking the abdominal wall neural afferents.

Epidemiological study of mucormycosis cases admitted at civil hospital, ahmedabad during covid-19 pandemic

Background: An Epidemic of Mucormycosis along with second wave of covid-19 pandemic was seen in Gujarat and other states also which was very serious problem. So, aim of this study was to know the epidemiology of mucormycosis during covid-19 pandemic.
Methods: A Cross-sectional study was conducted at Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad which included total of 769 confirmed cases of mucormycosis admitted between 11th May to 21st June, 2021. Information like socio-demography, diagnosis, clinical features, Site of infection, Risk factors etc. were collected.

Obstructive sleep apnea and periodontitis: an unexplored relationship

Obstructive sleep apnea is a common disorder caused by complete or partial obstruction of the upper airway. It causes symptoms like unexplained day time drowsiness, morning headaches and trouble concentrating among others. Periodontal disease is an inflammatory disease involving the periodontium. It may contribute to systemic inflammatory disease by increasing the production of inflammatory mediators. The relationship between periodontitis and systemic diseases have been investigated with conflicting results.

Background: Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY is the largest health assurance scheme in the world which aims at providing health cover of Rs 5 lakhs per family / year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization to cover 10.74 crores poor and vulnerable families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries) that form the bottom 40% of the Indian population. Ayushman Bharat Scheme or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna or PM-JAY was launched on 23rd September, 2018. In our state Chhattisgarh it is run as Dr. Khoobchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojna (DKBSSY).

Autoimmune type-2 hepatitis in a 5-year-old child: a case report

Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a long-term noncommunicable disease with unknown etiology. Depending on the antibody profile, it is classified into two types: type-1 AIH and type-2 AIH. Type-1AIH is frequently identified in adults, while type-2 is typically diagnosed in children. We report a case of 5 years old female child who presented with complaints of jaundice for the last three months, was diagnosed as AIH type-2, treated with prednisolone and responded well.

The crossing of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and horrible covid-19 upshot the hurricane for black fungus

India is the first diabetes country in the world. In the first wave mucormycocosis was negligible in incidence in comparison to second wave of COVID but “The black fungus has painted the country vermillion in the second round.” Black fungus is a rare, but aggressive fungal infection. Black fungus is Mucormycosis. Black fungus cases are more in hot tropical countries because the environment is ideal for these spores present in the air to grow.

Prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors in rural areas: case of karusi province

Background: There are few Burundian data available on cardiovascular risk factors.
Aim: To determine the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors in rural area of Burundi.
Patients and methods: This was a survey carried out during the celebration of World Heart Day at the ʺNatwe Turashoboyeˮ hospital in the province of Karusi. We systematically recorded anyone who came for voluntary assessment of cardiovascular risk factors or cardiovascular disease.

Metabolic syndrome in an apparently healthy population in the niger delta region of southern nigeria

Background: Metabolic syndrome was relatively unknown in sub-Saharan Africa in the past. The disease burden, then was mainly attributable to infections and infestations. However, due to Westernisation and urbanization, there is a shift from communicable to non-communicable diseases hence the rise in metabolic syndrome and its attendant cardiovascular complications. This study assessed the prevalence of metabolicsyndrome and its risk factors in a sub-urban community in the Niger Delta region of Southern Nigeria.
