Background: Exclusive breastfeeding(EBF) is important for child health and growth, but its practice is low in many developing countries. This study aimed to assess the exclusive breastfeeding practices and examining the socio-demographic characteristics that influence exclusive breastfeeding.
Objectives
1. To assess the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding practice among study population.
2. To know socio-demographic factors affecting the exclusive breast feeding practices.

Total and ionic serum calcium levels before and after phototherapy in full term neonates

Introduction: Phototherapy is the standard treatment for neonatal jaundice bringing about tremendous physiological changes. Some recent reports have shown that phototherapy has an adverse impact on the serum electrolyte levels, including serum calcium levels.
Objective: To assess change in serum calcium levels following phototherapy in full-term neonates.

Role of maternal subcutaneous fat thickness in the prediction of gestational hypertension/pre-eclampsia

Pre-eclampsia is one of the leading causes for increased morbidity and mortality for mothers and infants. Among the various risk factors identified to be associated with pre-eclampsia, obesity is the most important factor. Till date BMI has been used to measure obesity. This study was done to find correlation between maternal abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness and development of gestational hypertension/pre-eclampsia and to find a cut-off value of subcutaneous fat thickness for prediction of risk of developing gestational hypertension/pre-eclampsia.

Rett syndrome: a case report

Many childhood diseases are diagnosed a couple of years after birth. This article presents a similar condition resulting in regression and slowing down of brain growth after a normal course of development during neonatal period. Rett syndrome is such a condition that presents itself after some months of apparently normal development. This disease is usually manifested with deceleration of head growth, loss of purposeful hand movements which are replaced by hand wringing or hand washing stereo types.

Progestin-only use for patients with abnormal uterine bleeding (aub) with the risk of venous thromboembolism (vte): case series and literature review

Background: Risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) has been the main concern for all the hormonal contraceptives used for AUB. Hormone treatment with estrogen and progesterone has shown risk of developing VTE among the patients. Progestin only is being used by various clinicians to avoid the complication of VTE. The present case series and the literature review have focused on progestin-only use (oral, IUD, injectable, implant) to manage abnormal uterine bleeding specially among high risk patients group.

Drug utilization study of antihypertensive drugs in a tertiary care hospital of western maharashtra- a prospective cross-sectional study

Background: Hypertension is a major factor causing increasing international burden of morbidity and mortality. Hypertension is associated with various co-morbidities like Coronary artery diseases, Peripheral vascular diseases, chronic kidney diseases, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, eye blood vessel damage, etc. The prescription of antihypertensive drugs varies according to the cardiovascular morbidity, age, overall health status and many other variables.
