Novel technique of fabrication of medicinal reservoir for burning mouth syndrome

Burning Mouth Syndrome is often challenging for health professionals to diagnose as well as to treat. Its treatment requires a multidisciplinary approach and both psychological and pharmacological aspects should be considered simultaneously. In the present case report, medicinal reservoir was incorporated in the interim removable partial denture of a patient suffering from burning mouth syndrome. The reservoir helped in the prolonged and sustained release of the topical medicament in the oral cavity and patient was found to have relief in her symptoms after 3 month follow up.

Epidural abscess after rhinosinusitis in child: case report

Intracranial complications (CIC) of rhinosinusitis are the extension of the infectious process to adjacent structures, occurring in a small number of patients, but with a high morbidity and mortality rate, requiring rapid recognition. Epidural abscess is a rare but important suppurative infection of the central nervous system (CNS). Abscesses that are enclosed within the bony confines of the skull or spinal column can expand to compress the brain or spinal cord and cause severe symptoms and permanent complications.

It is also influenced by age and obesity.

A study on comparison of volume and frequency based feeding protocol in very low birth weight baby

Introduction: Very Low Birth Weight (VLBW) neonates are increased risk for potential nutritional compromise. These infants are born with limited nutrient reserves, immature metabolic pathways and increased nutrient demands. These neonates require specialized nutritional support due to their biochemical immaturity, faster growth rates and increased metabolic demand. These demands results from increased risk of several problems such as respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, gastro-oesophageal reflux, apnoea and other factors related to feeding intolerance.

Study on medication adherence among patients with hypertension for effective therapeutic outcomes

Hypertension is the leading public health challenge globally, due to its high prevalence, morbidity and mortality with its devastating consequences on the heart and cardiovascular system.  The effectiveness of antihypertensive agents must be achieved by optimal adherence to prescribed medications according to health care providers instructions. The purpose of the study is to assess patient’s health status and medication adherence among the hypertensive patients.

The role of platelet indices as predictive markers of immune thrombocytopenic purpura (itp) in bone marrow aspirate: a study in a tertiary care centre

Introduction: Thrombocytopenia is considered to be one of the most important causes of abnormal bleedings. It is necessary to ascertain whether the thrombocytopenia is due to hyperdestruction or hypoproduction. Hyperdestructive thrombocytopenias are caused by extramedullary destruction of platelets while hypoproductive thrombocytopenias are caused by a decreased production of platelets by the bone marrow. Platelet indices (PIs) can be used as predictive markers of ITP in thrombocytopenic patients, thus avoiding bone marrow aspirations.

Buttermilk as a possible glycotoxins’ eliminator: a review

Glycotoxins or advanced glycation end products (AGEs) are coming under the limelight of research field now-a-days.  These glycotoxins when get excessively produced in the body; are posing a risk factor for many metabolic disorders like diabetes, cardiac disorders and cancers and are also responsible for premature aging and related diseases like cataract, Alzheimer’s disease etc. Researchers have proven that buttermilk which acquires a prime importance in Ayurveda has the potential to eliminate or significantly inactivate these system produced glycotoxins.
