Exudative pleural effusion in left oblique fissure masquerading as pseudotumor - a rare case report

A pleural effusion is an excessive accumulation of fluid in the pleural space. It can pose a diagnostic dilemma to the treating physician because it may be related to disorders of the lung or pleura, or to a systemic disorder. Pleural effusion may extend into the major fissures and give them a characteristic appearance, particularly in heart failure, and manifest as vanishing or phantom tumors (pseudotumors). Pulmonary inflammatory tumors, are also referred to as pseudotumor.

View on some approaches used in synthesized new ppar α, ppar γ and ppar δ agonists and their pharmacological evaluation

Peroxisome prolifrated activated receptor (PPAR) belongs to the nuclear hormon receptor (NHR) Super family, three subtypes PPAR α, PPAR γ and PPARδ, for this receptor have been identified and found to be important target for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, atherosclerosis,etc6.

Evaluation of antidepressant action of nicotine in an animal model

Introduction: Nicotine may have antidepressant properties and smokers self-medicate underlying depression. Epidemiological findings suggest that smokers more often demonstrate depressive symptoms than non-smokers and depressed patients are less likely to cease smoking. Aim & Objectives: To evaluate the effect of nicotine given as acute and chronic combination therapy with imipramine in learned helplessness model in rats.

Tarpana [satiating the eyes]: the supreme ocular therapy

Tarpana is one of the popular ocular therapies that is performed in Ayurveda. Among the “kriyakalpa,”tarpanahas a very superior position as it is tissue targeted, fast acting, simple but innovative method of drug administration to various parts of eyes including the posterior segment. The eye being a very vital and sensitive part was of main focus while designing kriyakalpas– which include -seka, aschyotana, pindi and bidalaka. Tarpana, putapakaare usually lipid medicaments to enable easy, faster and far penetrating effect into the posterior segment of eyes.

Formulation of value added products of beetroot (beta vulgaris): changes in nutrients, antioxidant and antinutrients

Beta Vulgaris is very nutritious vegetable as it ranks 10th most powerful vegetable with respect to antioxidants and total phenolic compounds. As it contains some nutrients (Moisture, Carbohydrate, Total Ash, Crude Fiber, Folate, Iron, Calcium, phosphorus) antioxidants (Betaine and Vitamin C ) and antinutrients (Oxalic Acid and Saponins). In this study, we have formulated some VAP from beetroot by using different methods of cooking.

Comprehensive study on demography of hypospadias cases in rural bengal of india

Disorders of the external genitalia are especially troubling for parents because of the unconscious emotional significance of these reproductive structures and, probably, the consequent impact of deformities on future generations. The development of the genitourinary system is complex. The urinary system includes the kidneys, ureter, the bladder and the urethra. In terms of their development, the kidney and the ureter develop from intermediate mesoderm. The bladder and the urethra develop from the urogenital sinus.

Kimura disease: a rare cause of lymphadenopathy

Kimura disease is a rare but distinctive chronic eosinophilic inflammatory disorder that is characterized by tumor-like lesions in the soft tissue and enlargement of nodes of the head and neck. Here we present the case of a 16 years male patient with low grade intermittent fever with generalized lymphadenopathy without any pallor or hepatosplenomegaly. On investigation there was very high leukocyte count with eosinophilic predominence. Lymph node biopsy revealed features consistent with Kimura’s disease. The patient recovered spontaneously.

Anatomic reconstruction of the distal radioulnar ligament for distal radioulnar joint instability- a case report

Stability of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) is provided by bony architecture and by soft tissues such as the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC), the joint capsule, and surrounding muscles. The objective of this study was to analyze clinical outcomes after anatomic reconstruction of the distal radio-ulnar ligaments in a patient with posttraumatic chronic instability of the DRUJ. Anatomical reconstruction of the distal radioulnar ligaments is thought to be an effective procedure for treating posttraumatic DRUJ instability.
