A study of outcomes following cochlear implantation in children in a govt. programme - an indian experience

Introduction: This retrospective study is based on assessment of outcome of cochlear implantation at  Late Dr.Shiv Nath  Mehrotra Charitable ENT foundation between 2016 to 2019 under ADIP(assistance to disable persons) scheme by taking into account various scoring systems like category of auditory performance (CAP), Speech intelligibility rating (SIR) and Glasgow children benefit inventory (GCBI).  

Improved tolerability with aceclofenac-hpβcd inclusion complex compared to aceclofenac in patients with knee osteoarthritis

Background: Aceclofenac is a NSAID which possesses anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. However, it has low aqueous solubility, leading to poor dissolution, insufficient oral bioavailability and more gastrointestinal (GI) adverse effects. The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of Aceclofenac-HPβCD complex tablets compared with Aceclofenac tablets in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA).

Comparative evaluation study of immunochromatographic test and microscopic diagnostic test in diagnosis of malaria

Introduction: The commonly employed method for diagnosis of malaria involves the Immunochromatographic test and microscopic diagnostic test in diagnosis of malaria.
Objectives: Detection and identification of Malarial parasite Microscopically in blood films.   Detection and identification of Malarial Antigen by Immunochromatographic Rapid Diagnostic test.  Comparison of results of Microscopic and Immunochromatographic Rapid Diagnostic test.  

Practical approach to the patient that in emergency department, states had swallowed a battery (or if we have great suspicion about it).

A clinical case about a patient that swallowed cylindrical batteries is presented.
We make an updated bibliographic review, but in a practical way, of the algorithm of actuation in the emergency department.
This will save a lot of time when this not unusual situation presents in the emergency department
 

Effect of facilitated tucking on pain during hepatitis b vaccination among newborns-randomised controlledtrial

Background and objective: Pain may also cause detrimental effects on child’s future abilities to learn and remember new information. The most common painful procedures performed during infancy are routine injections without pain management. Non pharmacological and pharmacological methods should be considered for pain relief by health staffs. So the current study was carried out to assess the effect of facilitated tucking on pain during Hepatitis B vaccination among newborns. Methodology: A randomized controlled trail was used.

A study on clinical profile of empyemathoracis in a tertiary care centre

Introduction: An empyema Thoracis is a purulent collection in the pleural space. It is a disease that, despite centuries of study, still causes significant morbidity and mortality. Empyema  thoracis in children  is  very  commonly  seen  all over  the world, more frequently  as  a complication of pneumonic infections. In paediatric patients, empyema thoracis complicates pneumonia  36%  to 57%  of  the time with a range of incidence between 0.4 and 6.0 cases per 1000 pediatric admissions. It constitutes   approximately 5- 10% of cases  seen by pediatrician in India.

Evaluation of efficacy and clinical safety profile of kerato-pigmentation done with an automated tattooing machine

Corneal tattooing or keratopigmentation (KTP) is a surgical procedure used for functional and cosmetic correction of corneal scar. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety profile of superficial KTP done with presterilized gamma irradiated derma ink and an automated micropuncture device - Digital PMU & MTS system.

Asymptomatic infections of covid-19 in golaghat district, assam, 2020 screened among close contacts of nizamuddin tablighi jamaat: a case series observational study

Background: Limited data are available for asymptomatic infections of COVID-19. The gaps still persist in the natural history of COVID-19 pandemic.
Aim: This study aimed to fill up the gaps of natural history of disease by reporting the epidemiological characteristics of 9 COVID-19 positive cases with asymptomatic infection screened from close contacts of Nizamuddin Tablighi Jamaat and to show the transmission potential of asymptomatic Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2) carriers.
