Methods used in tissue procurement can affect the morphological and morphometric/ immunohistochemical evaluation of histological preparations. In our work, we compare the results of subcutaneous adipose tissue analysis in pathologically obese subjects using standard excision and core needle biopsy. The removed material was fixed with neutral formalin and routinely processed in a laboratory. Qualitative and morphometric evaluation of the tissue, showed that the two sampling methods used had no effect on the parameters examined.
