A review on in situ gel

The current review on in situ gel was to complete the recent literature with special focus on in situ gelling system to increase the residence time of drug at the target site. This study has been sparked by the advantages shown by in situ forming polymeric delivery system such as ease of administration and reduced frequency of administration. The in situ gel forming polymeric formulations offer several advantages like sustained and prolonged action in comparison to conventional drug delivery system. There are various polymers which undergo in situ gel forming and potentially used for various routes of drug administration.
