Medicinal plants are an important part of human history, culture and tradition. The subject of
medicinal plants is highly active field of scientific study all over the world. Medicinal plants and
plant derivates are widely used in traditional cultures globally and they are becoming increasingly
popular in modern society as natural alternatives to synthetic chemicals. Natural products and their
derivatives represent more than 50% of all drugs in clinical use. It has been observed that solutions to
problems of maintenance, promotion of health, prevention and cure of diseases globally are still
posing before us as challenging problems. Although today, with chemotherapeutic revolution, a
multitude of useful life saving drugs are available, yet it will not to be out of place to hasten to add
that we have hardly any idea of their immediate risks or remote hazards. Therefore, the evaluation of
rich heritage of traditional medicine is essential. Aragvadha (Cassia fistula Linn.), is one of the
magnificent medicinal plant described in our Ancient system of Medicine. The word Aragvadha
which itself means to obliterate even the suspicion of diseases. The aim of this study was to collect,
elaborate; converse the medicinal properties of Aragvadha (Cassia fistula Linn.) along with its
therapeutic indications. Ayurvedic lexicon, its commentators and the modern text books has been
reviewed thoroughly. Aragvadha (Cassia fistula Linn.) is the marvel drug, which portrays in all text
books of Ayurvedic Sciences. This article aims to provide a comprehensive review on the remedial
action of Aragvadha (Cassia fistula Linn).
