PERUSE A PLANT PRODUCT AS AN ANTIMICROBIAL AGENT

Incrementing microbial resistance to chemical antibiotics and their probabilistic side effects cause popularity of medicinal plants, so there is a necessary need for recent antibacterial compounds from plants. Pistacia lentiscus (PL) has been used as an antioxidant, antiparasitic, antifungal, antiviral, and antiflammatory agent. In this work, effect of oil of PL on growth of Bacillus subtilis ATCC No. 21332 (BS) in macro-dilution Mueller-Hinton broth, agar disk or agar well diffusion is demonstrated. MIC and MBC values were 0.062 and 0.125 g/ml concentration, respectively. There were discrepancies in sensitivity to PL: In agar disk diffusion there was no inhibitory effect at 0.003, 0.007 g/ml and in agar well diffusion test, no inhibitory effect at 0.003, 0.007, and 0.015 g/ml. Also, find discrepancies in BS sensitivity to oil of PL with greater inhibition in disk diffusion tests. The present research demonstrates the antibacterial activities of the medical plant on SA, offering to use as an antibacterial supplement.
